Dr. Mary Jane Willshire
University Dean of Computer Science

Helping students reach their potential is what first attracted Dr. Mary Jane Willshire to teaching. Today, as Dean of Computer Science for Colorado Technical University, Dr. Willshire feels a part of the success of every graduate of the university. "Work hard and don't be afraid of an intellectual challenge," Dr. Willshire advises her students at the Colorado Springs campus.

With a wealth of professional credentials that cover key positions in research and teaching in both mathematics and computer science, Dr. Willshire brings an in-depth technical background as well as relevant, practical experience to the classroom at CTU. Asked what she most enjoys about teaching, she replies, that it is "working on research projects with the doctorate students. There's a great satisfaction helping them to reach the level where they're contributing to our field."

Advising graduates entering career fields today's job market, Dr. Willshire counsels new job seekers, "Be confident in what you know, but realize that you still have things to learn."

Dr. Willshire's industry affiliation includes membership in many professional organizations and committees, and publication in numerous industry periodicals and technical reports.

Dr. Willshire became Dean of Computer Science for the university in 2005. She also teaches classes at the Colorado Springs campus.
