Welcome to CTU-Colorado Springs
A timeless natural beauty that inspires a vision of tomorrow.
Colorado Springs was founded in 1871 by a civil war hero and an innovative railroad owner, General William Palmer. Realizing that the breath-taking beauty of Pike's Peak and the Garden of the Gods made this mountainous area an ideal location for tourists, he established Colorado Springs as a genteel, healthy alternative to rough-living mining towns like Colorado City.
Today, "Colorado City" has been absorbed by its old rival, Colorado Springs, and is a National Historic District of beautifully restored Victorian homes and charming shops. With its temperate climate and close proximity to Rocky Mountain ski slopes and stunning rivers, Colorado Springs remains a major tourist area, offering easy access to hiking, skiing, biking and white water rafting. It also provides a full range of hospitality amenities, including great restaurants, exciting clubs and a wide range of cultural attractions.
Tourism is just one of the booming industries that has made Colorado Springs the second largest city in the state. In 1958, the United States Air Force Academy made "The Springs" its home base. The town also claims no fewer than four military bases and is home to more than a 1,000 large companies in such fields as aerospace, biotechnology and computer research. With a high concentration of companies specializing in advanced technology, Colorado Springs now draws ambitious professionals seeking careers in these industries. This modern reality is, of course, fully in keeping with the traditions and values of its founder. For, as man of vision, General Palmer would no doubt welcome those who come to his city seeking employment today and advancement tomorrow.
